Notes to the Lord:On Modeling

1 Thessalonians 1
7And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it,

Lord Jesus--I don't live in Macedonia or is Pine Road and Washington, but the job is the same. It is modeling you to a world that neither cares or leaves room for you in their lives. But that was the way that it was for the Thessalonian church all those years ago when Paul was writing.

for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait
for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

Lord Jesus--The idols of today are not the same as they were in the first century...they are not wood and stone to be worshiped. We don't call them gods. We are more sophisticated than that. But lives still revolve around them...things like career, acquiring status, material, houses, financial security. They are things much more tangible.

Lord Jesus--In this day that is dawning now, focus my thoughts, emotions and energy on the things that really matter. Let me be like those early Christians in Thessalonica so full of your grace that everyone could see.
