Notes to the Lord: New Wine

Scripture Reflections Matthew 9:16-17
16"No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse.

Lord Jesus—You brought new content to the old form of the covenant that the Father has established with humanity. You don’t want to patch me up and move me on. You wanted to bring something totally different. You gave yourself for me.

17Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved."

Lord Jesus—The new wine of the gospel of grace continues to amaze me. It has nothing to do with what I can do, but only about what you did for me on the cross. You call to me to change and flex with Your work within me. You call me to allowing the gospel to stretch me and to flex with your leading along the way.

Continue your work with me Lord Jesus.
