Scripture Reflection:Matthew 8:14-17
4When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
Lord Jesus—It was a fever caused by who knows what. Was it malaria? Was it the flu? Maybe it was a pandemic that there is no record of…I suspect that the Roman health department did not intervene. So much of the way I think is based on cause and effect. But here you are the effect…You were the reason for Peter’s mother-in-law’s return to health.
Lord Jesus--Be at work in an effect producing way in my life in this day. Help me to remember in the mix of the day that you are at work and miracles happen as the conditions of obedience and faith are lived out.
16When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."
Lord Jesus--You became a part of the hurts of this world, it’s pain touched you and you interacted with it. You were impacted by our infirmities and disease in a way that you could only have experienced by becoming one of us.
Sounds familiar… Philippians 2:5-8
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!

Lord Jesus--Your example humbles me and calls to me…ultimately the cross was the answer for all my hurts. Because of your sacrifice I can be whole...not just without disease...but really whole.
