Lord Jesus--Thank you for the time and the space to reflect about you this morning. Thank you for the reality of your presence in my heart and life. Guide and infuse my thoughts and mediation's about your word today.
Scripture Reflection Matthew 5
7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
In this blessing there is an implication of my active participation...something beyond where I already am at. Lord Jesus in the back ground here somewhere there is the principle of sowing and reaping.
Some where in the mix of life there is practical everyday expressions of grace. Right in the middle of where we live our lives. It is not about rituals said in church buildings or prayers prayed with just the right flowery words. Mercy is the place where you found me and the place where forgiveness is received and given.
Righteousness is lived out in the practical workday clothes of mercy demonstrated to those who have no where else to turn.
Micah 6:8
8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?
Micah the Old Testament prophet spoke with the voice of God when he talked about the real signs of renewal and revival of the heart...it was expressed in justice, kindness, mercy and humility. Mercy experienced leads to mercy expressed in creative and redemptive ways.
Lord Jesus in this day lead me in the ways of mercy that has the wisdom in it to express what I have experienced of your grace. Help me to live today at the intersection of hope and mercy.
